CIS
Passionate support for the construction industry.
The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), is a scheme where self-employed subcontractors in the construction industry have payments taken from their fees by the contractor, who then pays them to HMRC. Subcontractors are required to participate in this scheme by many contractors, particularly on large construction projects. Subcontractors are already self-employed, and need to register with HMRC to obtain a certificate and registration card.
The vast majority of construction activities are integrated into the scheme, however there are a few that aren’t, mostly because they fall under other business categories. By speaking with one of our accountants, you can achieve more than just reducing the deductions the main contractors make. You will also be able to get advice on claiming expenses and other aspects of self-employment tax.
